Vittoriosa Stars target a third win over Rabat Ajax this season to leapfrog Qormi and Tarxien in their bid to avoid relegation in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme on Saturday at the Hibernians Stadium.
The Stars are currently second from bottom on ten points and are yet to register a win in the Relegation Pool after a draw with Tarxien and a defeat to Floriana. They won just one of the last six matches – a 1-0 win over Rabat.
The Magpies are almost resigned to playing in Division 1 next season after suffering a 0-3 defeat to Qormi in a direct clash in their last outing. They have now gone sixteen matches without a win.
Dani Pelaez and Adam Smeir are ruled out injured for Rabat while Vittoriosa should be in full strength.
In the first phase, Vittoriosa defeated Rabat 1-0 twice.
Meanwhile in the second match, Hibernians take on Balzan in a clash from the Championship Pool.
After suffering back-to-back defeats to Mosta and Valletta, Hibs will be all out to claim the three points in order to move back in third place. The return of Edison Luis dos Santos from suspension is definitely a boost for Branko Nisevic’s side.
Balzan are yet to claim their first points in the Championship Pool after losing to Birkirkara and Sliema. They will be without the suspended Dylan Grima.
In the first phase, Hibs defeated Balzan 1-0 and 2-0.
