Valletta, Mosta share spoils in draw

mosta-valletta140311pzcValletta dropped two important points in the battle for the championship as they could not go beyond a 2-2 draw with Mosta.

The Blues gave their opponents a worthy challenge and definitely deserved to take home a positive result from the game.

Valletta took the lead on the 8th minute thanks to a powerful drive by Alan da Silva Souza from outside the area which gave goalkeeper Omar Borg no chance.

The Blues levelled matters seven minutes later. It was a great freekick by Gianmarco Piccioni which beat the Georgian goalkeeper.

The Citizens went close with a Lateef Elford-Alliyu shot from close range when served by Alan da Silva from the right. A rising shot by Abdelkarim Nafti from outside the area ended just high.

Mosta forged ahead on 65 minutes when Gianmarco Piccioni flicked the ball home following an inviting cross by Antonio Carrozza from the left.

Two minutes later, Alan da Silva missed a good opportunity hitting wide from close range.

However Valletta restored equilibrium on the 78th when Lateef Elford-Alliyu placed the ball at the back of the net from close range off a cross from the right by Alan da Silva.

A rising shot by Gianmarco Piccioni scraped past the post for Mosta and finally Lattef Elford-Alliyu had a powerful shot neutralised by Omar Borg.
