Msida St. Joseph claimed three important points in the battle against relegation as they managed to beat second-placed Zebbug Rangers 3-2 in one of the four BOV First Division matches in programme on Sunday.
The Saints are now third from bottom, three points ahead of Zejtun Corinthians and ten ahead of Hamrun Spartans.
In other games concerning the relegation issue, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s defeated Hamrun Spartans 4-0 while Zurrieq beat Zejtun Corinthians 1-0.
In another match, St. George’s moved fifth thanks to a 2-1 win over Gudja United.
Pietà lead the way with 45 points, followed by Zebbug on 39, Lija 30, Melita 29, St. George’s 27, Gzira 26, St. Andrews 25, Zurrieq 24, Birzebbuga and Gudja 22, Msida 17, Zejtun 14 and Hamrun 7.
