Successful Under-11 event organised by Pembroke Athleta Nursery

pembroke-u-11-event-apr2014The Youth FA experiment of organising through football nurseries five Under-11 football festivals which include cultural and other activities have proved to be a huge success to the enjoyment of many football nursery children.

Five nurseries were chosen to host this season’s events and after Mgarr, Marsaxlokk, and Hamrun Spartans sucessfully held theirs, it was the turn of Pembroke Athleta Football Nursery to organise the event on the 6th April.

This included an acrobatic display by pupils of the rhythmic gymnastics club Ritmica, a singing/dancing show by pupils of Stagecoach, a train ride in the town of Pembroke visiting historical sites and a walk in the new cycle parth in the Pembroke Natura 2000 area.

A presentation of the book ‘Pembroke from a British Garrison to a Modern Civilian Town’ by Denis A. Darmanin was distributed to all participating nurseries by Pembroke mayor Dr Dean Hili. The occasion also served for UEFA Under-17 Championship ambassador Fr Hilary Tagliaferro to address the participating children regarding the championships which will be held in Malta in May.

Pembroke Athleta nursery helpers, coaches and administrative staff contributed for the successful organisation of the activities. The organisers thank the Pembroke Local Council, Meltin Pot Bar & Restaurant, Jane Farrugia and sponsors Nestle Malta, Nectar Group, Chemimart, General Soft Drinks, Foster Clark Products, www.stephengatt.com
