Portugal, England and the Netherlands will secure a place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Under-17 Championship finals which is currently being held in Malta should they register a second win on Monday in Match-Day 2 at the Gozo Stadium and the Hibernians Stadium.
In Group A on Friday, England beat Malta 3-0 while the Netherlands defeated Turkey 3-2. At the Gozo Stadium on Monday, England take on Turkey at 11:15 while Malta plays its second game at 15:15 at the same venue against the Netherlands.
Should they both win, the England and the Netherlands would book a place in the semi-finals with the leadership of the group being decided in Thursday’s direct clash.
For Sergio Soldano’s side, the clash with the Netherlands will be another difficult test but the team will aim once again at performing well.
In Group B, after beating Scotland 2-0, Portugal target a second win as they take on Switzerland in the first game at the Hibernians Stadium at 11:00. However this is no easy task, considering that Switzerland managed to eliminate Spain and holders Russia in the Elite Round and held Germany in a 1-1 draw on Friday. A win is a must for the Swiss in order to maintain high hopes of reaching the next stage.
In the second game at the Hibernians Stadium, Germany take on Scotland, kick-off at 18:00.
On Friday, Germany had the opportunity of notching a late winner when they were awarded a penalty which was neutralised by the Swiss goalkeeper, having to settle for a draw. Against Scotland, they therefore target a first win in their bid to progress to the next round.
