Southampton FC Academy representatives visit Mqabba FC Youth Nursery

mqabbaFollowing months of communication between Mqabba FC Youth Nursery and Southampton FC Academy, two representatives from Southampton FC, Mr Danny Maye and Mr Stewart Naughton, will be visiting the nursery on Thursday evening. Mr Danny Maye, the Bath Academy Lead Coach will be also delivering a special training session for the Under 11 category focusing on transition to attack. Session will be held between 16:30 and 18:00 at the Mqabba FC Ground.

This courtesy visit was made possible thanks to the hard work done by the Mqabba FC Youth Nursery President Mr Gilbert Camilleri which will seal the start of mutual long relationship between Mqabba FC Youth Nursery and the Southampton FC Academy.

During their stay Mr Maye and Mr Naughton will be also monitoring one of their nursery’s players who is currently playing for England in the UEFA European U17 Championship.

Southampton FC runs a highly successful youth academy, with a number of teams from ages nine to 18 years. Recent products of the club’s youth system include the England internationals Adam Lallana, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wayne Bridge, Wales and Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale, and Northern Ireland defender Chris Baird. Other players who have come through the ranks are Nathan Dyer and Andrew Surman.
