Zebbug Rangers and Mosta reached the semi-finals of The Convenience Shop Malta Summer Cup as they finished first and second respectively in Group B on Sunday.
In Thursday’s semi-finals, Balzan take on Mosta at 18:30 while Zebbug Rangers face Pietà Hotspurs at 20:30.
In the first match, Zebbug defeated Floriana on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
Matias Muchardi put Zebbug ahead on 17 minutes but Vito Plut equalised on 29 minutes. Miguel Gudiel made it 2-1 for the Rangers on 73 minutes but one minute in added time, Giovanni Galea restored equilibrium.
Zebbug, however, won 4-1 on penalties.
In the second match, Mosta beat Vittoriosa Stars 4-0.
The Blues scored three within the first sixteen minutes through Manolito Micallef and a brace by Adrian Borg. Bojan Kaljevic added another after the break to seal the issue.
Zebbug Rangers and Mosta ended their commitments in 7 points but the newly-promoted side finished first after winning the direct encounter. Floriana placed third on 4 points followed by Vittoriosa without any points.
The finals will be played on Sunday 3rd August.
