Lija Athletic presented the new signings ahead of the new First Division campaign during a press conference organised at the Lija Athletic Football Ground.
Club President Charles J. Scerri congratulated the technical staff for their efforts and preparation in view of the new season ahead. He also gave a warm welcome to all the new players and wished them a good season with thje club. He pointed out that the club will be aiming high this season and that discipline and commitment are key factors that the club will keep a close eye on throughout this season.
The President also thanked the club sponsors, fellow committee members, supporters and benefactors.
New coach Joe Brincat thanked the Lija Athletic FC committee for the opportunity given to him in mentoring a relatively young squad, and promised that he will be giving his utmost to bring honours to Lija. He also thanked fellow coaches Eamon Bugeja (Assistant coach and Under 19s coach) and Alex Camilleri (Goalkeepers coach) for their support.
Lija Athletic retained players Beppe Antignolo, Dylan Mintoff and foreigners Abdullahi Adeshina Ige and Predrag Babic, while Luke Bonnici (goalkeeper) returns from a one year loan with Senglea Athletic F.C.
The club signed Adrian Caruana on loan from Mosta, Cleavon Frendo and Isaac McCarthy on loan from Valletta, Luca Casha on loan from Floriana, Patrick Borg, Roderick Taliana and McAllister Clinch on loan from Birkirkara, Keith Vella and Justin Spiteri on loan from Zebbug, Dylan Zarb and Glanville Goodlip who played for Dingli Swallows and Birzebbuga St. Peter’s respectively last season and Albanian midfielder Erjon Beu who had played for Attard and Balzan.
