Newly-promoted Swieqi United registered a most comfortable 4-0 win over Mellieha at the Sirens Stadium in their first appearance in the BOV Second Division.
Leontiev Konda was the hero for Swieqi with a hat-trick. He opened the score three minutes from the end of the first half and doubled the score two minutes after the break. Kenneth Ekezie made it 3-0 on 55 minutes with Konda adding another goal on the 77th.
At the Luxol Stadium, Senglea Athletic defeated Siggiewi 3-1.
Timmy Thomas converted a penalty seven minutes in the second half to put Senglea ahead. Siggiewi levelled matters through Mark Deguara on 67 minutes but five minutes later, Timmy Thomas restored the lead. Christian Cassar sealed the issue with a third goal on the 78th.
In another match at the Luxol Stadium, Marsa and Gharghur shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Heathcliff Schembri put Marsa ahead on 36 minutes but Martin Deanov equalised for Gharghur on 64 minutes.
Meanwhile at the Sirens Stadium, Third Division champions Sirens defeated Ghaxaq 2-0 thanks to goals by Lee Joe Schembri on 58 minutes and Justin Zammit on the 90th.
