Gudja United scored four goals during the second half as they beat Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 4-0 in one of the four matches from the BOV First Division.
Peter Paul Sammut put Gudja ahead on 56 minutes. Six minutes later, Angelo Catania doubled the score. Adrian Carabott made it 3-0 on 74 minutes and Mauro Brincat converted a penalty three minutes from time for a fourth goal.
Melita came from behind to beat Pembroke Athleta 2-1.
An own goal by Abner dos Santos following a shot by Roderick Bajada put Pembroke ahead after just four minutes but three minutes from the end of the first half, Luke Sammut restored equilibrium. Antoine Attard notched the winner four minutes from time.
Newly-promoted Mqabba defeated Rabat Ajax 3-0. After a goalless first half during which Rabat created the better chances, Mqabba broke the deadlock three minutes in the second half through Douglas da Silva Silveira. Four minutes later, Guilherme Soares de Freitas converted a penalty after Rabat goalkeeper Jamie Azzopardi was sent off. Clayton Micallef sealed the issue with a third goal on 77 minutes.
Lija Athletic beat Zurrieq 3-0 thanks to three first-half goals. Luca Casha put Joe Brincat’s side ahead on the 12th minute. Cleaven Frendo doubled the score on 37 minutes and Daniel Mizzi added another three minutes later.
