Marsa defeated Senglea Athletic 2-1 in the big match from the BOV Second Division on Saturday. A win which puts Marsa in second place, two points behind leaders Hamrun Spartans.
Glen Bonello put Marsa ahead eight minutes in the second half thanks to a penalty. Terence Scerri levelled matters for Senglea but Warren Chircop notched the winner one minute from time.
Joining Marsa in second place were also Gharghur who defeated Sirens 4-1.
San Gwann obtained a second consecutive win, beating Zejtun Corinthians 3-0. Shaun Vella put San Gwann ahead on the 9th minute. Dylan Pirotta doubled the score three minutes from the end of the first half and Shaun Vella sealed the issue with a third goal three minutes in the second half.
Ghaxaq registered their first win as they beat Xghajra Tornados 3-0. Florin Anton converted a penalty on 39 minutes. Kerston Borg doubled the score on the hour and Roland Spina added a third goal nine minutes later.
Zabbar St. Patrick and Swieqi United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Matthew Asciak put Swieqi ahead on the 33rd minute but twelve minutes from time, Joey Reno Vella equalised.
A goal by Mark Deguara gave Mellieha the three points in a narrow win over Dingli Swallows.
Hamrun lead the way with 9 points, followed by Gharghur and Marsa on 7, Senglea and San Gwann 6, Swieqi, Zejtun and Mellieha 4, Ghaxaq, Sirens and Dingli 3, Zabbar 2, Siggiewi 1 and Xghajra 0.
