Gudja United dropped their first points in the BOV First Division as they were held in a 1-1 draw by Rabat Ajax but still maintain sole leadership with Mqabba and Melita moving in second place.
At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Angelo Catania put Gudja ahead on the 13th minute but Rabat were quick to equalise through Luke Cauchi two minutes later.
In another match, a goal by Nigel Rizzo twelve minutes from time enabled Melita to beat Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 1-0.
At the Centenary Stadium, Mqabba registered a third win as they beat St. George’s 4-0. Guilherme Soares de Fretiras put Mqabba ahead seven minutes from the end of the first half and one minute from half-time, they doubled the score thanks to an own goal by Emerson Amaira. Guilherme Soares de Freitas made it 3-0 ten minutes in the second time and deep into stoppage time, Karl Cutajar scored the fourth goal for Leslie Burke’s side.
In another match, St. Andrews registered a second consecutive win as they beat Msida St. Joseph 3-1. Emiliano Lattes gave St. Andrews an early lead on the 11th minute. Trayo Grozev doubled the score on the half-hour and two minutes later, the Bulgarian striker made it 3-0. Stacey Vella scored a consolation goal for Msida on 58 minutes.
Gudja lead the way with 10 points, followed by Mqabba and Melita on 9, Vittoriosa and St. Andrews on 7, Msida and St. George’s 6, Fgura 5, Gzira 4, Lija and Zurrieq 3, Pembroke and Rabat 2, Birzebbuga 0.
