BOV Premier League resumes with Hibs-Tarxien derby

Leaders Hibernians hope to make it eight wins in a row as they take on neighbours Tarxien Rainbows in one of the four BOV Premier League matches in programme on Saturday.

Led by new coaches, Sliema Wanderers and Naxxar Lions hope to register wins as they take on Mosta and Zebbug Rangers respectively while Qormi and Floriana cross swords in a clash between two teams lying in the eighth place.

Qormi vs Floriana, kick-off 15:00 at National Stadium
Buoyed by a fine performance in a 4-0 win over Mosta in their last outing, Qormi will be aiming for another three points as they hope to climb further up in the table. For Qormi, this was only the second win after losing four of the previous five matches.

However Floriana are eager to return to winning ways after dropping several precious points and are coming from three consecutive draws against Zebbug, Naxxar and Balzan.

Floriana’s Amadou Samb and Qormi’s Frank Temile are ruled out through suspension.

Hibernians vs Tarxien Rainbows, kick-off 17:00 at National Stadium
Hibernians target an eighth consecutive win to maintain their perfect record in the BOV Premier League table. With 22 goals scored and just five conceded, the Paolites have the best forward line and the best rear-guard. They are coming from a 5-1 win over Naxxar.

However after bringing their positive run to an end last season, Tarxien hope to repeat themselves this time by at least stealing a point off their rivals. In their last outing, they registered a fine 3-1 win over Birkirkara. A game which definitely continued to lift their morale.

Hibernians should be in full strength but Tarxien will be lacking the suspended Carlos Menendez Hevia.

Sliema Wanderers vs Mosta, kick-off 15:00 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Led by new coach Stephen Azzopardi, Sliema Wanderers will be aiming for a third successive win after defeating Pietà and Zebbug in their last two outings. A win which would put them just one point behind Mosta.

Mosta definitely need to forget the highly-disappointing result and performance in their 0-4 defeat to Qormi in their last game. This was their second consecutive defeat after losing to Birkirkara in their previous outing.

Bojan Kaljevic returns for Mosta after serving a suspension while goalkeeper Omar Borg is still recovering from an injury. Alex Muscat is ruled out for the Wanderers.

Zebbug Rangers vs Naxxar Lions, kick-off 17:15 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
New Naxxar Lions coach Jesmond Zerafa hopes his side starts on the right track with a win over Zebbug Rangers in a clash between two teams who are still chasing their first win. The Lions earned just three points in three draws from the first seven matches and are coming from a 1-5 defeat to Hibernians.

Zebbug, on the other hand, lost narrowly to Sliema and hope this game is the right time to register their first win.

The Rangers should have Swiss midfielder Carlo Polli making his debut. Angus Buhagiar is ruled out through suspension for Naxxar.
