BOV Division 3: Santa Lucia stay top

Santa Lucia defeated Mgarr United 1-0 to stay two points clear on top the BOV Third Division table.

Denis Sytnic was the hero for Marsaskala as he scored the four goals in a 4-0 win over Ta’ Xbiex. Sytnic converted a penalty on the 34th and scored another three goals on the 47th, 52nd and 68th minutes.

Kirkop United also maintained their unbeaten record with five positive results in five matches as they beat Attard 4-1.

Mtarfa defeated Luqa St. Andrew’s 3-1. Cleaven Mizzi put Mtarfa ahead five minutes from the end of the first half and Clive Shumba doubled the score just before half-time. Five minutes in the second half, Diansand Brincat pulled one back for Luqa but an own goal two minutes from time sealed the issue for Mtarfa.

Qrendi returned to winning ways as they beat Marsaxlokk 3-1. Ryan Damato put Marsaxlokk ahead on the 20th but three goals in the second half by Robert Darmanin on 47 minutes, Stephane Banzio on the 62nd and Bjorn Dalli on the 89th gave Qrendi the three points.

St. Venera Lightnings came from behind to beat Kalkara 3-1 and register their first win. Darren Cristina put Kalkara ahead on the 8th minute, Mark Grech equalised on the 12th and two penalties in the final eight minutes by Darren Farrugia handed the Lightnings the three points.

Santa Lucia lead the way with 14 points, followed by Marsaskala on 12, Kirkop 11, Mgarr and Qrendi 10, Mtarfa 9, Marsaxlokk 7, Attard 6, Luqa 5, Sta. Venera and Kalkara 4, Mdina 3 and Ta’ Xbiex 2.
