Hibernians target ninth win

Leaders Hibernians will be hoping to extend their positive run in the BOV Premier League as they take on Mosta in one of the two matches in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

The Paolites returned to winning ways last week as they defeated Birkirkara 1-0 in a top-of-the-table clash after being held in a draw by Tarxien the previous week. A win over Mosta would put them temporarily ten points ahead of Birkirkara.

However their task will be no easy one as they face a Mosta side desperate for points after suffering four consecutive defeats including last week’s dramatic 2-3 defeat to Floriana where they were enjoying a two-goal lead.

Ryan Grech is suspended for Mosta as he serves a suspension while Marcelo Dias will be back after missing the last game through suspension.

Meanwhile in the first match, Tarxien Rainbows face Floriana.

Tarxien lead Floriana by one point with the Rainbows lying in the eighth place and the Greens ninth. Last week, Tarxien lost 0-1 to Qormi but are set to welcome back Owen Bugeja, Matthew Tabone, Carlos Menendez Hevia and Wesley Pipico who were all suspended. However with two goalkeepers ruled out as Jonathan Debono is injured and Sean Cini suspended, either Antonio Chetcuti or Sean Mintoff will guard the posts.

Floriana target a second consecutive win after the morale-boosting win over Mosta. A win which would put them in joint-fifth place.
