The Malta Under-21 side takes on Azerbaijan in a friendly match at the Hibernians Stadium on Sunday, kick-off at 15:00. A match which kick-off a new cycle as the large majority of players from the previous squad are no longer eligible to play for the Under-21 national team as they are over-age. In fact, from the eighteen-man squad, only nine had already made at least one appearance for the team.
Under-21 coach Silvio Vella who made his debut in the 0-3 defeat to Turkey in September will be handing a number of players their debut.
This game should serve as preparation for the UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifiers which will kick-off next year. The draws are yet to be held.
