BOV Division 2: Senglea inflict first defeat on Hamrun

Leaders Hamrun Spartans lost their unbeaten record in the BOV Second Division as they suffered the first defeat of the season, losing 1-2 to Senglea Athletic at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.

Senglea therefore returned to winning ways after claiming just one point from the previous two matches following a defeat to Sirens and a 1-1 draw with Mellieha. They move to just three points behind Hamrun and two behind San Gwann.

Timmy Thomas converted a penalty on 18 minutes to put Senglea ahead. The Spartans equalised through an own goal on 36 minutes but Dylan D’Agostino notched the winner on 76 minutes.

Hamrun lead the way with 22 points, followed by San Gwann on 21, Senglea 19, Zabbar 15, Gharghur, Sirens and Zejtun 13, Mellieha 11, Swieqi 9, Marsa 8, Dingli 6, Siggiewi 5, Ghaxaq 4 and Xghajra 3.
