After losing three of the last four matches, Birkirkara will be all out to return to winning ways on Sunday as they take on Zebbug Rangers in one of the two matches in programme at the National Stadium.
The Stripes lost to Hibs, Floriana and Pietà, claiming three points in a win over Sliema. After these defeats, they lost ground to leaders Hibernians and now lie sixteen points behind them and four behind Valletta.
Zebbug, on the other hand, are still chasing their first win and lie at the bottom of the table with just five points. They obtained three points in three draws out of the last five matches.
Birkirkara’s Ryan Scicluna and Zebbug’s Thomas Paris will be back after serving a one-match ban.
In the first round, Birkirkara defeated Zebbug 4-0.
Meanwhile in the first match, Floriana and Sliema Wanderers face each other in the first of two matches between the two teams in four days. In fact, the two teams will cross swords in the third round of the FA Trophy on Wednesday.
The Greens are eager to bounce back from a most disappointing 0-5 defeat to Hibernians last week. The Wanderers, on the other hand, aim for another win after defeating Tarxien 2-0. Two points separate Floriana and Sliema with the Blues lying sixth and the Greens eighth.
Filippo Andrea Scozzese and Paltemio Barbetti are both available for Sliema after serving a one-match ban but Barbetti could be left out of the squad for disciplinary reasons.
In the first round, Floriana and Sliema shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
