Naxxar Lions secured the services of twenty-seven year old Brazilian striker Jorge Santos Silva after being released by Tarxien Rainbows last week.
Naxxar will be the fifth Maltese club for Jorge Santos who had joined Vittoriosa Stars in season 2010/11, scoring seven in 24 matches. The following season, he moved to Sliema Wanderers where he scored three in 15 matches before being transferred to Birkirkara mid-way through the season where he scored seven in 14 matches.
The Brazilian striker moved back to Brazil in summer 2012 but returned back to Malta in the beginning of last season, joining Tarxien Rainbows. After scoring nine goals in thirty matches, he was confirmed for another season. However he was released after scoring just one in fourteen matches so far.
He will be the eighth foreigner for Naxxar along Emmanuel Ibok Edet, David Alejandro Reano, Christopher Edafe Uzeh, Gilmar da Silva Ribeiro, Pablo Doffo, Uchenna Emenike Mbachu and Pape Gueye. Sidney da Silva was released by the club a few weeks ago.
