Second defeat for Malta in Futsal EURO qualifiers

Malta suffered a second defeat in the UEFA Futsal EURO qualifiers, losing 0-4 to Andorra at the Corradino Pavillion on Thursday.

The Maltese team held the initiative in the first eight minutes but once Andorra scored the first goal, they dominated possession with Malta trying to react but could only hit the posts twice.

Carlos Manuel Barbosa opened the score after a fast break on the 8th minute and four minutes later, Ignacio Llamas made it 2-0 following a similar move.Before the break Llamas completed his brace with Barbosa emulating his team-mate in the second half as he found the net on 32 minutes. This was the first win for Andorra in the tournament.

Malta’s next match will be against Latvia on Saturday.

Latvia earned a point in an entertaining draw with England in another match on Thursday.

Latvia were the best team in the first half as they scored two goals in the first half with England producing a comeback and managing to level the matters in the second half.

Andrejs Sustrovs put Latvia ahead on 11 minutes and Oscar Ikstens doubled the score two minutes later. Thirty seconds afterwards Stuart Cook reduced the arrears for England with the same player equalising during the second half.
