Twelve teams will be fighting for the remaining six quarter-final spots as six matches from the fourth round of the FA Trophy will be played on Wednesday at three different venues – the Gozo Stadium, the Centenary Stadium and the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Floriana vs Qormi is the only clash between two BOV Premier League clubs as Birkirkara, Pietà Hotspurs, Hibernians and Balzan face opposition from Division 2 or Gozo while Gudja United take on Sirens in the other match.
Gudja United vs Sirens, kick-off 18:00 at Centenary Stadium
After beating Mtarfa 4-0 and Premier League side Tarxien Rainbows 4-0, BOV First Division leaders Gudja United start as firm favourites to secure a place in the quarter-finals. Sirens, who lie in a mid-table position in Division 2, had eliminated San Gwann 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw and Lija Athletic 1-0.
Siggiewi vs Birkirkara, kick-off 20:15 at Centenary Stadium
After beating Second Division side Hamrun Spartans 7-1, Birkirkara face another team from Division 2 – Siggiewi. The latter had beaten Xghajra Tornados 2-1 and Zurrieq 5-2.
Birkirkara are currently second in the BOV Premier League while Siggiewi are ninth in the BOV Second Division.
Victoria Hotspurs vs Pietà Hotspurs, kick-off 18:00 at Gozo Stadium
Victoria Hotspurs host Pietà Hotspurs, hoping to upset another Premier League club after eliminating Zebbug Rangers 3-0 in the third round. Victoria Hotspurs had defeated Ta’ Xbiex 2-1 and Mellieha 5-1 in the first two rounds. Pietà, on the other hand, beat Pembroke Athleta 1-0 after extra-time.
Pietà are joint-ninth in the BOV Premier League while Victoria Hotspurs are fourth in the Melita First Division in Gozo.
Nadur Youngsters vs Hibernians, kick-off 20:00 at Gozo Stadium
This clash puts against each other the leaders of the BOV Premier League and the leaders of the Melita First Division in Gozo. Both teams dropped just two points so far in their campaign, winning all the other matches.
In the previous rounds, Nadur defeated Xaghra United 5-0, Fgura United 2-1 and Gharghur 4-1. Hibs, on the other hand, beat St. George’s 2-0.
Balzan vs Zabbar St. Patrick, kick-off 18:00 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Balzan, fourth placed in the BOV Premier League, also start as favourites to reach the next stage as they take on Zabbar St. Patrick who are currently third in the BOV Second Division.
St. Patrick eliminated Santa Lucia and Msida St. Joseph with identical 2-1 scores while Balzan defeated Kirkop United 2-0.
Floriana vs Qormi, kick-off 20:15 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Both Floriana and Qormi hope to progress to the quarter-finals in this only clash between two Premier League sides. In the third round, Qormi beat Qrendi 3-0 while Floriana defeated Sliema Wanderers on penalties following a goalless draw.
In the BOV Premier League first round, Qormi beat Floriana 4-2.
