The bottom four clubs will be all out to claim the three points on Tuesday as two direct clashes will be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium between Tarxien Rainbows and Qormi, Zebbug Rangers and Pietà Hotspurs.
The two matches were originally scheduled for the Hibernians Stadium on Sunday but were called off due to the bad weather which hit the Maltese islands during the weekend.
Tarxien Rainbows vs Qormi, kick-off 18:00 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Tarxien and Qormi are joint-second from bottom together with Pietà and therefore a win is a must for either side in their bid to steer away from the danger zone. The Rainbows won just one of the last twelve matches and are coming from a 1-1 draw with Mosta. Qormi, on the other hand, suffered five consecutive defeats and have now gone ten matches without a win.
After signing Leighton Grech from Birkirkara, Qormi secured the services of Brazilian midfielder Roberto Marcelo Lima De Mattos ‘Marcelinho’ and Swedish defender Billy Berntsson. Tarxien, on the other hand, signed Ishmael Grech and Nigerian striker Obinna Darlington Ajoku.
In the first round, Qormi beat Tarxien 1-0.
Zebbug Rangers vs Pietà Hotspurs, kick-off 20:15 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Zebbug Rangers will be aiming for a win over Pietà Hotspurs in order to revenge the first round defeat but also to close in on their rivals. They won two out of their last five matches, losing 0-2 to Valletta last week. The Hotspurs, on the other hand, ended a disappointing run with a narrow win over Qormi.
Christian Grech is ruled out for Pietà as he serves a one-match ban but Charles Newuche Nnacmeka is expected to make his debut with Ricardo Costa poised for his first league appearance after being included as a substitute in the FA Trophy fourth round. Zebbug, on the other hand, should be in full strength as Carlo Monti is set to return after missing the last game.
In the first round, Pietà defeated Zebbug 1-0.
