Hamrun Spartans failed to take advantage from the loss suffered by leaders San Gwann as they conceded a third defeat in four matches, losing 1-2 to Siggiewi.
It was Eman Ciappara who put Siggiewi ahead on the 49th but Saturday Nanapere equalised nine minutes later. However Siggiewi regained the lead thanks to an own goal on the 74th minute.
Zabbar St. Patrick dropped two important points in the battle for promotion as they were held in a goalless draw by Swieqi United.
Senglea Athletic were held in a 1-1 draw by Marsa. Peter Anizoba put Senglea ahead on 64 minutes with Ronnie Celeste equalising eleven minutes from time.
Gharghur came from behind to beat Sirens 3-1. Daniel Cremona put the St. Paul’s Bay side ahead on 12 minutes. Gharghur equalised thanks to a Muda Fagbeja penalty six minutes in the second half. Kevin Camilleri made it 2-1 on 69 minutes and ten minutes from time, Muda Fagbeja sealed the issue with a third goal.
A goal one minute from time by Jake Farrugia enabled Mellieha to beat Dingli Swallows 1-0.
Ghaxaq won the basement clash with Xghajra Tornados, defeating them 3-1. Marvic Grech put Ghaxaq ahead on the 21st, Royter Degiorgio converted a penalty to level matters one minute in the second half but Florin Anton made it 2-1 on the hour and fourteen minutes from time, Marvic Grech added another to secure victory.
San Gwann lead the way with 36 points, followed by Hamrun on 34, Zejtun 31, Senglea and Zabbar 29, Gharghur 26, Siggiewi 24, Mellieha 21, Marsa and Swieqi 20, Sirens 19, Dingli 12, Ghaxaq 8 and Xghajra 5.
