BOV Division 2: Senglea move third as Swieqi beat Zejtun

Senglea Athletic moved third in the BOV Second Division as Swieqi United halted Zejtun Corinthians’ positive run.

In fact, a goal by Kenneth Ekezie gave Swieqi United a narrow win over Zejtun.

Senglea Athletic returned to winning ways as they beat Ghaxaq 4-0. Audgustine James Obaje put Senglea ahead on the 12th before Timmy Thomas hit a brace on the 25th and 38th. Gary Inguanez increased the lead further seven minutes from time for a final 4-0 score.

San Gwann regained the top spot thanks to a 2-1 win over Sirens. Ryan Zammit put San Gwann ahead on the 8th and Shaun Vella doubled the score on the 23rd. Ricardo Severino Goncalves pulled one back on 63 minutes.

Zabbar St. Patrick disappointed in a 1-2 defeat to Siggiewi. Dillon Pace put the Saints ahead on the 20th but Siggiewi turned the score in their favour thanks to goals by Kim Buhagiar seven minutes from the end of the first half and a penalty by Jason Camilleri seven minutes from time.

A brace by Muda Fagbeja enabled Gharghur to come from behind and beat Xghajra Tornados 2-1. Roderick Zerafa put Xghajra ahead on 26 minutes but Fagbeja levelled matters nine minutes in the second half and converted a penalty on the 69th to hand Gharghur the three points.

Stephane Sylla notched a hat-trick as Mellieha beat Marsa 3-2. A penalty by Sylla put Mellieha ahead on the 12th with Vilson Caushi equalising just before half-time. Sylla scored again on 65 and 83 minutes with Caushi converting a penalty for Marsa’s second goal.

San Gwann lead the way with 39 points, followed by Hamrun on 37, Senglea 32, Zejtun 31, Zabbar and Gharghur 29, Siggiewi 27, Mellieha 24, Marsa 20, Sirens 19, Dingli 12, Ghaxaq 8 and Xghajra 5.
