Bojan Kaljevic scores two as Balzan turn defeat into victory

Balzan moved back in fourth place as Bojan Kaljevic scored twice late in the game to turn the score in their favour for a 3-2 win over Tarxien Rainbows.

Tarxien, on the other hand, suffered the sixth consecutive defeat, therefore remaining anchored at the bottom of the table with eleven points.

Justin Grioli returned for Balzan after serving a one-match ban but Lydon Micallef and Elkin Serrano Valero were ruled out through suspension. The suspended Manu Bonaque was missing for Tarxien who welcomed back Edu Vallecillo and Mouhamed Soly.

Balzan took the lead after just thirteen seconds when off a cross from the left by Oscar Guerrero, Dylan Grima’s first-time effort gave goalkeeper Sean Mintoff no chance.

Tarxien equalised seven minutes from the end of the first half when off a cross by Edu Vallecillo, Justin Grioli deflected the ball past goalkeeper Christian Cassar for an own goal.

Seven minutes in the second half, Tarxien doubled the score thanks to Mouhamed Soly who chested the ball down off a cross by Vallecillo, hitting hard past Cassar.

Balzan levelled matters on the 69th when off a corner by Oscar Guerrero from the right, Bojan Kaljevic headed home.

Bojan Kaljevic made it 3-2 eight minutes from time when he won the ball off a short clearance by the Tarxien defence and beat Mintoff with a low shot from just outside the area.

One minute from time, Tarxien almost restored equilibrium when a Firas Aboulezz freekick created havoc inside the penalty area and off a short clearance, Jorge Yepes’ fine effort was turned into a corner by Cassar.
