BOV Division 2: Senglea Athletic, Hamrun Spartans promoted

Senglea Athletic and Hamrun Spartans secured promotion to Division 1 as both registered wins in two of the six matches from the BOV Second Division on Sunday.

Senglea secured promotion as they came from behind to beat Zejtun Corithians 2-1. Charlo Magro put Zejtun ahead on 33 minutes but Timmy Thomas levelled matters two minutes in the second half, adding another in added time to hand Senglea the three points. Thomas increased his tally to twenty-five goals, three ahead of Muda Fagbeja of Gharghur who notched a hat-trick in another match on Sunday.

On the other hand, a goal by Simon Shead on the 19th minute gave Hamrun Spartans a narrow win over Sirens.

Leaders San Gwann beat bottom-placed Xghajra Tornados 7-0. Ian Tanti opened the score on the 8th minute and four minutes later, Ryan Zammit doubled the score. Zammit added another on 26 minutes. Thirteen minutes in the second half, Shaun Vella made it 4-0 and seven minutes later, Vella scored the fifth goal. Marc Attard increased the lead on the 78th and Josef Cutajar sealed the issue with a seventh goal five minutes from time.

Zabbar St. Patrick registered a 5-1 win over Mellieha. Jean Claude Cesare converted a penalty on the 21st minute to put the Saints ahead. A minute later, Shalon Diacono doubled the score and Dylan Micallef made it 3-0 six minutes from the end of the first half. Claydon Camilleri scored the fourth goal on the 58th. Chris Tonna pulled one back for Mellieha on the 75th but Dylan Micallef added another for St. Patrick in added time.

A hat-trick by Muda Fagbeja gave Gharghur a comfortable 3-0 win over Swieqi United. Fagbeja scored on the 8th, 15th and 79th.

Ayrton Buhagiar scored a hat-trick as Siggiewi defeated Ghaxaq 4-0. He opened the score on the 6th, doubled the score on the 59th and after an own goal put Siggiewi three goals ahead on the 71st minute, Buhagiar added another goal eight minutes later.

San Gwann lead the way with 55 points, followed by Senglea on 51, Hamrun 50, Zejtun 42, Zabbar 40, Gharghur 38, Mellieha 37, Siggiewi 36, Swieqi 30, Marsa 28, Dingli 19, Ghaxaq 9 and Xghajra 5.
