Alfred Attard appointed Zebbug Rangers coach

First Division side Zebbug Rangers have appointed Alfred Attard as their new coach after the two parties reached an agreement on Monday.

Zebbug, who have just been relegated from the Premier League after just one season in the top division started their Premier League campaign under the guidance of Jesmond Zammit who had led the team to promotion from the Second Division to the First Division and then to the Premier League. Following Zammit’s resignation, Alfonso Greco took over as Zebbug coach but the team still ended at the bottom of the table with five wins and six draws in 33 matches.

Alfred Attard coached St. Venera Lightnings and Balzan Youths before joining Sliema Wanderers as assistant coach. In season 2008/09, he was appointed coach of St. Patrick. In 2011/12, Attard had a short spell with Sliema Wanderers, this time as technical advisor. Mid-way through following season, he was appointed coach of Marsaxlokk. For the last two years, Alfred Attard served as coach of the Pietà Hotspurs youths team.

Meanwhile Brazilian striker Mauricio Osmar Rodrigues Britto is expected to move elsewhere after being their leading scorer in the past three years with 23 goals in season 2012/13 in Division 2, 17 goals in season 2013/14 in Division 1 and 11 goals in the Premier League this season.
