Conor Borg is officially a player of AS Roma after the Serie A club deposited his contract.
After turning out for the Malta Under-17 national team which hosted the finals of the UEFA Under-17 Championship in May 2014, he played regularly for Floriana last season and scored three goals in eighteen matches.
AS Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini had been following the Floriana midfielder for quite some time and an agreement to sign the player was reached in March.
Borg turned out for the Malta Under-17 side in the UEFA Under-17 Championship qualifiers in October 2012 when he was still a fifteen-year old and then was a key player for Malta in the UEFA Under-17 Championship finals. Last year, he played for the Malta Under-19 side in the UEFA Under-19 Championship qualifiers.
The eighteen-year old midfielder received his first senior national team call-up for the friendly match against Georgia and the European Championship qualifier against Azerbaijan in March and was a member of the Under-21 squad for the two qualifiers against Moldova and Latvia last month.
This will be Conor Borg’s second experience in Italy following a spell with the youths of Chievo Verona.
