Mellieha hit four past Msida St. Joseph at the Charles Abela Stadium as the BOV Second Division kicked-off on Sunday.
Ryan Cutajar put Mellieha ahead on 28 minutes. Kalil Da Rosa doubled the score six minutes in the second half and Kyle Simiana made it 3-0 on 75 minutes. Seven minutes from time, Wayne Borg St. John sealed the issue with a fourth goal.
In another match at the Charles Abela Stadium, Gharghur defeated Swieqi United 2-1.
Muda Fagbeja put Gharghur ahead on 59 minutes and although Nicholas Schembri levelled matters on the 70th, four minutes later, Muda Fagbeja scored a second goal for Gharghur.
Birzebbuga St. Peter’s came back from two goals down to earn a point in a 2-2 draw with Mgarr United at the Sirens Stadium. Lazar Doric put Mgarr ahead on 31 minutes and doubled the score on the 77th. However Keith Muscat pulled one back on 81 minutes and one minute from time, Paul Camilleri equalised.
Sirens turned defeat into victory as they beat Siggiewi 2-1. Darren Galea put Siggiewi ahead on the 30th minute. Daniel Cremona equalised on the 59th with Giovanni Galea notching the winner on the 71st minute.
In two matches at the Luxol Stadium, Marsa defeated Zejtun Corinthians 2-0 while Zurrieq and Zabbar St. Patrick shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
