New season kicks-off at Pietà Hotspurs Academy

A new season just kicked off at Pietà Hotspurs FC Academy. Season 2015/2016 will be once again a busy and challenging one for all the age groups at the Academy.

New qualified and experienced coaches have been engaged by the academy in order to enhance the players’ skills. All coaches will be following a detailed training programme which takes a long term approach in order to ensure that all the boys at the Academy are given optimal training which exposes them to a healthy competitive environment. Special attention will be given to each players’s technical, physical, social and psychological development.

Every coach is aware of the responsibility he bears in the development process of each individual in order for the Academy to keep yielding quality players for the club’s First Team. The club is determined to strengthen its philosophy of trust in home grown Academy players at Senior level. This season, 15 home-grown players are forming part of the First team. This shows the Academy’s outstanding work throughout the past years.

The Pietà Hotspurs FC Academy Chairman will be Frankie Ciantar who will be assisted by Damien Saliba. The Nursery administration is also made up of Vice-Chairman Jesmond Sultana, Nursery Secretary Alfred Zahra, Assistant Secretary Jurgen Ciantar, Nursery Treasurer Paul Attard, Assistant Treasurer Raymond Mifsud, Kit Manager Emily Mifsud, Club Director Anthony Cassar, Under 15 and 17 Team Manager Kurt Gatt and Committee Member Emanuel Abela.

The Technical Staff will be co-ordinated by the Director of Youth Coaching, UEFA A qualified coach Silvan Ciscaldi. Forming part of the experienced and energetic technical staff are coaches Michael Farrugia, Patrick Galea, Chris Okoh, Kevin Farrugia, Cedric Pisani, Julian Briffa, Vince Sammut and Mead Mifsud together with a good number of young CYF qualified helpers. As from this season the Under 10 and Under 11 age groups will be having Futsal sessions with Clint Cope. Coaches Roderick Agius and Sam Bartolo will be responsible for the goalkeeper’s training at the Academy.

Meanwhile, the Club is highly investing in its facilities. Besides the training grounds in Pietà, older age groups will once again be holding training sessions on the eleven-a-side pitch at the Junior College in Msida.

Pietà Hotspurs FC Academy is currently receiving applications from boys aged between 3 and 10.
