Gharghur joined Marsa on top the BOV Second Division table as they registered a dramatic win over Zejtun Corinthians and Marsa were held in a draw by Mellieha on Saturday.
At the Sirens Stadium, a goal on the 90th minute by Chris Cutajar gave Marsa the lead in the clash with Mellieha. However the latter rescued a point with a goal on the 93rd minute by Wayne Borg St John.
On the other hand, a penalty on the 92nd minute gave Gharghur a 2-1 win over Zejtun Corinthians at the Charles Abela Stadium. Muda Fagbeja put Gharghur ahead on the 14th but Jamie Mifsud levelled matters on the 25th. However a penalty by Keith Fedele gave Gharghur three precious points.
Zabbar St. Patrick returned to winning ways as they defeated Qrendi 4-3 in an entertaining clash at the Luxol Stadium. A brace by John Nwoba on the 12th and 45th gave Qrendi a two-goal lead by the end of the first half. Zabbar, however, turned the score in their favour thanks to a brace by Julio Cesar Sousa Martins da Silva on the 47th and 49th and a goal by Jean Claude Cesare on the 57th. Dylan Zarb restored equilibrium on the 74th but Jean Claude Cesare notched the winner on the 94th.
After losing six of the previous seven matches, Msida St. Joseph registered their first win as they beat Zurrieq 1-0 at the Luxol Stadium thanks to a goal by Andrew Formosa on the 41st minute.
Lazar Doric gave Mgarr United a narrow win over Kirkop United at the Sirens Stadium thanks to a goal seven minutes in the second half.
Siggiewi and Birzebbuga St. Peter’s shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Charles Abela Stadium. Edson Luiz Bonati put Birzebbuga ahead on the 9th but seven minutes in the second half, Mark Camilleri levelled matters for Siggiewi.
Gharghur and Marsa lead the way with 17 points, followed by Sirens on 15, Siggiewi 14, Zejtun 13, Birzebbuga and Zabbar 12, Mgarr 10, Kirkop and Mellieha 9, Qrendi 8, Swieqi 7, Msida 4 and Zurrieq 3.
