BOV Division 3: Sole leadership for Marsaskala

A brace by Denis Sytnik gave Marsaskala a 2-0 win over Ta’ Xbiex at the Charles Abela Stadium on Sunday and the sole leadership in the BOV Third Division. Marsaskala move two points ahead of Mdina and three ahead of Attard, who however have a game in hand.

Sytnik put Vesko Petrovic’s side ahead on the 31st minute and the same player doubled the score on the 76th when he converted a penalty.

Mdina Knights were held in a 1-1 draw by Santa Lucia at the Charles Abela Stadium. Velibor Milicic put Mdina ahead just before half-time but Shawn D’Amato levelled matters for Santa Lucia on the 76th.

Dingli Swallows registered a comfortable 3-0 win over Marsaxlokk at the Luxol Stadium. Etienne Farrugia put Dingli ahead on the 10th, Joshua Sciarrino doubled the score on the 64th and Karl Cilia converted a penalty on the 89th to seal the issue.

Kalkara returned to winning ways as they beat Mtarfa 3-2 at the Centenary Stadium. Darren Grech put Kalkara ahead on the 17th but Stefan Cortis equalised four minutes later. Jonathan Xerri made it 2-1 for Kalkara on the 66th and eight minutes later, Darren Cristina added another. Omar Smeir reduced the gap for Mtarfa on the 90th.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Luqa St. Andrew’s and St. Venera Lightnings shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

At the Luxol Stadium, Xghajra Tornados defeated Ghaxaq 2-0 courtesy of Jonathan Cachia on the 35th and Kevin Galea on the 79th.

Marsaskala lead the way with 16 points, followed by Mdina on 16, Attard 15, Marsaxlokk and Santa Lucia 13, Dingli 12, Ghaxaq 11, Luqa, Kalkara and Xghajra 7, St. Venera 6, Ta’ Xbiex 4 and Mtarfa 3.
