BOV Division 2: Marsa, Sirens move top

Marsa and Sirens moved on top the BOV Second Division table on Sunday, two points ahead of Gharghur, who however have a game in hand.

Marsa were held in a goalless draw by Qrendi at the Charles Abela Stadium while Sirens defeated Zejtun Corinthians 3-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Giovanni Galea put Sirens ahead onteh 10th, Vince camilleri levelled matters on the 63rd but Giovanni Galea restored the lead on teh 77th and Ethan Jay Goodman sealed the issue four minutes later.

Siggiewi stay in fourth place, two points ahead of Zabbar St. Patrick as the two teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Luxol Stadium. Dillon Pace put St. Patrick ahead on the 7th minute but Jason Camilleri levelled matters on the 68th.

Mellieha came back from a goal down to beat Swieqi United 2-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Nicholas Schembri put Swieqi ahead but a brace by Daniel Saliba on the 33rd and 46th handed Mellieha the three points.

Kirkop United defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium, courtesy of Michael Zammit on the 16th and Andre Cassar on the 65th.

Mgarr United registered a 4-1 win over Msida St. Joseph at the Charles Abela Stadium. Lazar Doric put Mgarr ahead on the 4th minute, Joseph Paul Zammit doubled the score on teh 37th and Lazar Doric added another on the 47th. Five minutes from time, Kenneth Aquilina made it 4-0 but four minutes later, Dylan Tanti scored a consolation goal for Msida.

Marsa and Sirens lead the way with 18 points, followed by Gharghur on 17, Siggiewi 15, Zabbar, Zejtun and Mgarr 13, Birzebbuga, Kirkop and Mellieha 12, Qrendi 9, Swieqi 7, Msida 4 and Zurrieq 3.
