BOV Division 3: Mdina regain top spot thanks to comfortable win

Mdina Knights registered a comfortable 6-1 win over Ta’ Xbiex at the Sirens Stadium to move back on top the BOV Third Division table.

Ben Camilleri gave Mdina the lead after just five minutes and Velibor Milicic doubled the score on the 19th but Andrew Xuereb pulled one back for Ta’ Xbiex on the 31st. Three minutes in the second half, Gilbert Camilleri made it 3-1 and two minutes later, Andrea Spiteri added another. Jason Good scored the fifth on the 58th and Darren Sammut sealed the issue with a sixth goal on the 92nd minute.

Marsalokk registered a comfortable 4-0 win over Attard at the Luxol Stadium to join Marsaskala in second place. Abner dos Santos put them ahead on the 26th and Ryan D’Amato doubled the score on the 38th. Eight minutes from time, Manuel Caruana made it 3-0 and Alain Pierre Courtadon scored the fourth three minutes in added time.

Ghaxaq and Santa Lucia shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Charles Abela Stadium.

In another match at the same venue, Mtarfa and Dingli Swallows earned a point each in a 1-1 draw, goals by Robert Ciantar on the 69th for Dingli and Christian Bugeja on the 84th for Mtarfa.

St. Venera Lightnings beat Kalkara 2-1 at the Luol Stadium. Danijel Vasic put the Lightnings ahead on the 28th and although Randall Cassar equalised on the 39th, Vasic notched the winner in added time.

In another match, Luqa St. Andrew’s and Xghajra Tornados shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

Mdina lead the way with 20 points, followed by Marsalokk and Marsaskala on 19, Attard 16, Santa Lucia 14, Dingli and Ghaxaq 13, Luqa 11, Kalkara and St. Venera 10, Xghajra 8, Mtarfa 5 and Ta’ Xbiex 4.
