Raphael Alain Kooh Sohna notched a hat-trick as leaders Gzira United defeated Rabat Ajax 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium to extend their unbeaten record in the BOV First Division to twelve matches.
Gzira took the lead on the 26th and six minutes later, Kooh Sohna converted a penalty to double the score. The Cameroonian striker sealed the issue with a third goal eleven minutes in the second half.
At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Hamrun Spartans registered a narrow win over Pietà Hotspurs to stay one point behind the leaders.
Jake Grech scored the all-important goal as he converted a penalty three minutes from the end of the first half.
Melita came from behind to beat San Gwann 2-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Josef Cutajar put San Gwann ahead on the 35th but two minutes later, Nikky Vella Petroni converted a penalty to level matters. Nine minutes in the second half, Jean Pierre Attard made it 2-1 for Melita.
Meanwhile in another match at the Centenary Stadium, nine-man Mqabba defeated Vittoriosa Stars 2-0. Arilson Mello da Silva scored the two goals for Mqabba.
Gzira lead the way with 30 points, followed by Hamrun on 29, Pietà 23, Senglea 22, Lija 21, Vittoriosa 18, Zebbug 17, Rabat 16, Fgura and Melita 15, Mqabba 12, St. George’s 10, San Gwann 6 and Gudja 4.
