Malta international midfielder Rowen Muscat joined Italian Lega Pro side AC Pavia on loan until the end of season with the Italian club having an option on the player in summer.
Muscat seemed on the verge of joining Serie B side Ascoli Picchio earlier this month after joining their squad but had to return to Malta, as he was reportedly suffering from a bronchitis.
A product of Birkirkara, Muscat made his Premier League debut for the Stripes in season 2009/10. In summer 2014, he was transferred to Hungarian top division side Dunaujvaros PASE but his stay was cut short as he was released due to the club’s financial problems.
AC Pavia are currently sixth in the Lega Pro Girone A with 28 points, seven behind leaders Cittadella.
