Leaders Gzira United stay three points clear in the BOV First Division following a 1-1 draw with second-placed Hamrun Spartans in the top-of-the-table clash at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
The Spartans seemed heading for victory after Haruna Garba put them ahead after just two minutes but eight minutes from time, Rene Louis Zome rescued a point for Darren Abdilla’s side.
Meanwhile Lija Athletic returned to winning ways after three draws and three defeats in their last six matches as they came from behind to beat Melita 2-1.
Alan Borg Olivier put the Amateurs ahead on the 16th minute but Abdullahi Ige Adeshina equalised on the 63rd and five minutes later, Jorge Garcia Vidal notched the winner.
Gzira lead the way with 46 points, followed by Hamrun on 43, Pietà 34, Senglea 32, Lija 27, Vittoriosa, Rabat, Mqabba and Fgura 23, Zebbug and Melita 22, San Gwann 17, St. George’s 15 and Gudja 8.
