BOV Division 1: Senglea Athletic stay five points clear of Pietà

Senglea Athletic moved a step closer to securing third place in the BOV First Division and hence the play-off spot against the team finishing third from bottom in the BOV Premier League after defeating Rabat Ajax 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Aud-Gustine James Obaje put Senglea ahead just before half-time. The Nigerian striker doubled the score three minutes from time and in added time, Ryan Dalli sealed the issue with a third goal.

Pietà Hotspurs defeated Zebbug Rangers 2-0 thanks to goals by John Roland Emeka on the 22nd and James Scicluna on the 63rd.

Gzira lead the way with 55 points, followed by Hamrun on 54, Senglea 48, Pietà 43, Lija 37, Vittoriosa 33, Mqabba and Zebbug 32, Rabat 29, Fgura and Melita 26, San Gwann 20, St. George’s 18 and Gudja 8.
