Floriana return to winning ways

Floriana returned to winning ways as they scored four in the first half to beat Mosta 4-2.

The Blues made a good comeback during the second half after being unlucky to hit the posts to score twice but these goals were not enough to rescue a point from the game.

Mario Fontanella missed an excellent opportunity to put the Greens ahead after just 55 seconds after advancing all alone into the area and rounding the goalkeeper but his conclusion hit the foot of the upright.

However they were not to be denied on the 12th minute as Juninho Cabral’s effort from outside the area gave goalkeeper Omar Borg no chance.

Three minutes later, Floriana doubled the lead thanks to Mario Fontanella who slotted the ball past Borg following a cross by Mauricio Villa.

Floriana scored the third goal on the 29th minute when off a cross by Steve Pisani from the right, Mauricio Villa’s header hit the upright and Mario Fontanella hit home off the rebound.

Six minutes from the end of the first half, Mauricio Villa made it 4-0 with a header from close range following a cross from the left by Fontanella.

Just before half-time, James Brincat was unlucky to hit the woodwork with a freekick from the right. Mosta went close once again on the 63rd minute but Kyle Frendo hit the upright.

The Blues finally reduced the gap on the 65th when they were awarded a penalty after Neil Spiteri brought Zachary Brincat down inside the area and from the penalty spot, Godwin Mensah converted.

Six minutes later, Mosta added another thanks to Godwin Mensha who slotted the ball past Matthew Grech from inside the area.
