​Youth FA Annual General Meeting 2015/2016

Youth FA President Fr. Hilary Tagliaferro appealed to the nursery administrators to continue striving to give the best professional services and attitude to their players, as only this will ensure that the level of the game is raised while addressing the YFA’s Annual General Meeting for season 2015/16.

Fr. Hilary said that the time was ripe to look ahead to nursery amalgamations, where big and established nurseries would team up with smaller nurseries and thus ensuring that more young players get game time. He lauded the example of Birkirkara and Dingli nurseries in the Under-15 this season, which was expected to continue and expand in the future and urged others to follow suit.

The Youth FA president revealed that the YFA was looking ahead to introduce educational programmes for parents who have children attending the nurseries and for nursery administrators. The first step being an Erasums Course in administration to be held in Scotland in the coming months, with the assistance of EU funds. Fr. Hilary concluded his speech by appealing to those present to up their game in terms of administration, education and coaching as this would ensure that results would follow suit.

The Youth FA General Secretary, Joe Micallef gave a detailed report on the 2015-2016 season which included almost 750 matches in the Under-15 and Under-17 APS Leagues. The General Secretary also announcement the winners of the Most Promising Youngsters Clive Bouvet (Under-15 – Pietà) and Markus Grima (Under-17 – St. Andrews) along with the APS Play Fair Awards (Under-15 – Floriana and Under-17 Kalkara). Other detailed presentations included: Fixtures (Alex Pace), Under-11 Events (Adrian Grech), Under-13 (Robert Attard), EU Projects (Stephanie Rocco) and the Financial Report (Alfred Cacciotolo).

The present five officials were uncontested and were approved to continue to serve for the next two seasons: Fr. Hilary Tagliaferro Council (President), Joe Cassar (Vice President), Robert Attard (Vice President), Joe Micallef (Secretary General) and Alfred Cacciotolo (Hon. Treasurer) The members representing the nurseries as elected during the AGM resulted as follows: – Charles Cassar (Rabat), Godwin Aquilina (Sta. Venera), Joe Baldacchino (Zabbar), Simon Spiteri (Mtarfa) and Paul Vella (Mgarr). The neutral members, observers and the members of the various boards and committees will be announced in the coming days, after the first YFA Council meeting.​
