Ghedin names squad ahead of Estonia friendly, Scotland World Cup qualifier

pietro-ghedinNational coach Pietro Ghedin named a twenty-man squad ahead of the friendly match against Estonia and the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Scotland. Malta plays a friendly match against Estonia at the Pärnu Rannastaadion in Pärnu, Estonia on Wednesday 31st August and then hosts Scotland in the first match from the European Qualifiers on Sunday 4th September.

Andrew Hogg, Steve Borg, Joseph Zerafa, Ryan Scicluna and Andre Schembri are back after missing the last two friendly matches against the Czech Republic and Austria last May but Justin Haber, Rowen Muscat, Steve Pisani do not feature in the squad. Haber is fresh from a move to his old club Floriana while Rowen Muscat is yet to sign for a club after a spell with Pavia in Italy. On the other hand, Steve Pisani was left on the bench in Floriana’s first league game.

Cain Attard, Ryan Camenzuli and Llywelyn Cremona, who were also part of the squad, will be playing for the Malta Under-21 national team in the qualifier against Belgium.
