The Malta Under-17 side, led by Silvio Vella, suffered two defeats to the Czech Republic in two friendly matches away from home. Two matches which formed part of the team’s preparation ahead of the UEFA Under-17 Championship qualifiers in programme next month.
In the first match at the Kyjov Stadium on Tuesday, two second-half goals gave the Czech Republic a 2-0 win.

On Thursday, the Czech youngsters dominated at the Breclav Stadium, taking a three-goal lead within the first sixteen minutes. Malta pulled one back through Andrei Spiteri but in the second half, the hosts added another three goals to win 6-1.
