The Malta Under-17 side collected their first three points in a competitive match since making their official debut last week as they defeated Montenegro 2-1 in the final match from Group 2 of the UEFA Women’s Championship qualifying round at the Pampeloponnisiako Stadium in Patras, Greece on Tuesday.
The hero for Malta was Maria Farrugia who opened the score on the 5th minute and made it 2-0 on the 37th. Jovana Golović reduced the gap for Montenegro one minute in the second half.
Frank Schembri’s side ends its commitments in Group 2 in third place on three points, four behind Greece and Sweden who had both defeated Malta and Montenegro, sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw in the direct clash on Tuesday.
