BOV Division 3: Msida regain top spot

BOV-Third-DivisionMsida St. Joseph regained the top spot in the BOV Third Division as they returned to winning ways as they beat Xghajra Tornados 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium in one of the six matches in programme on Sunday.

Dario Zamora put the Saints ahead on the 35th and doubled the score on the 59th before Galnville Goodlip added another on the 68th.

St. Venera Lightnings were held in a 2-2 draw by Santa Lucia at the Sirens Stadium. Dylan Mercieca put the Lightnings ahead on the 2nd minute but four minutes later, Alexander Cauchi levelled matters. Cauchi made it 2-1 for Leslie Burke’s side but Nigel Refalo equalised nine minutes from time.

Goals by Ryan Sell seven minutes in the second half and Jonathan Xerri seven minutes from time gave Kalkara a 2-0 win over Mdina Knights at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Kirkop United defeated neighbours Zurrieq 3-0 at the Luxol Stadium. Dylan Rapinett put Kirkop ahead on the 23rd but they had to wait until late to seal the issue with goals by Michael Theuma on the 83rd and Karl Caruana three minutes in added time.

Luqa St. Andrew’s beat Ta’ Xbiex 2-1 in another match at the Luxol Stadium. Andrew Sciortino put Luqa ahead just before half-time and although an own goal on the 72nd restored equilibrium, Leeroy Bonnett notched the winner for Luqa four minutes from time.

Dingli Swallows defeated Marsaskala 4-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Lke Galea put Dingli ahead on the 24th and two minutes later, Luke Galea doubled the score as he converted a penalty. Andrew Scerri made it 3-0 on the 74th and eight minutes from time, Kayne Said increased the lead further.

Msida lead the way with 12 points, followed by Sta. Venera on 11, Kalkara 10, Kirkop 9, Santa Lucia and Luqa 7, Mdina, Dingli and Zurrieq 6, Xghajra 5, Ta’ Xbiex and Mtarfa 3 and Marsaskala 0.
