Two Uruguayan players for Gzira United

gzira-unitedGzira United strengthened their squad with the signing of two Uruguayan players – Henry Damian Gimenez and Ricardo Calixto Correa.

Thirty-year old Henry Gimenez played twice for the national team of Urugay in 2008. He started his career with CA Fénix and then played for Tacuarembo and River Plate (Montevideo) in Uruguay before moving to Bologna in Italy in summer 2009. He had a spell on loan with Grosseto in the latter part of season 2012/13. In January 2014, he returned to Uruguay to join Nacional and later played for Universitario de Deportes in Peru, Mushuc Runa SC in Ecuador and Tractor Sazi in Iran.

On the other hand, for twenty-two year old attacking midfielder Ricardo Calixto Correa, this will be his first adventure outside Uruguay. Ricardo Correa started his career with CA Fénix before moving to Miramar Misiones and Club Oriental in Uruguay.

The Maroons had earlier released Robert de Pinho de Souza while the registration of Ellinton Antonio Costa Morais was cancelled. Joceano da Silva Santos is no longer on the club’s plans.
