BOV Division 3: Sta. Venera, Kalkara register fifth wins

BOV-Third-DivisionSta. Venera Lightnings and Kalkara registered their fifth win in the BOV Third Division on Sunday.

Sta. Venera Lightnings defeated Zurrieq 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium courtesy of Tyrone Grech on the 38th and Danijel Vasic on the 77th. On the other hand, Timmy Thomas gave Kalkara a narrow win over Mtarfa at the Charles Abela Stadium with a goal on the 14th minute.

Luqa St. Andrew’s defeated bottom-placed Marsaskala by the odd goal in five at the Charles Abela Stadium. Luqa took a two-goal lead within the first ten minutes as Denis Sytnik put them ahead on the 5th minute and Leeroy Bonett doubled the score on the 10th. Jurgen Cacia reduced the gap on the 31st and just before half-time, Salah Hamed levelled matters. However Jason Good notched the winner on the 69th.

Xghajra Tornados beat Dingli Swallows 2-0 at the Luxol Stadium . Dylan Busuttil opened the score on the 58th and Rotyer Degiorgio made it 2-0 fifteen minutes from time.

Ta’ Xbiex vs Mdina Knights defeated Ta’ Xbiex 2-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Tobias Terpougoff put Ta’ Xbiex ahead on the 17th minute but goals by Dylan Mintoff on the 32nd and Matthew Fenech on the 53rd gave Mdina the three points.

Santa Lucia and Msida St. Joseph shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the Luxol Stadium. Sebastian Perdomo put Santa Lucia ahead on the 17th minute but Msida turned the score in their favour thanks to a brace by Darren Caruana on the 27th and 67th. However Santa Lucia equalised throught Milijan Milivojev.

Sta. Venera lead the way with 17 points, followed by Kalkara on 16, Luqa and Msida on 13, Kirkop 12, Xghajra and Santa Lucia 11, Mdina 9, Dingli and Zurrieq 6, Mtarfa and Ta’ Xbiex 3 and Marsaskala 0.
