Leaders Kalkara were held in a second consecutive draw as they were held in a goalless draw by Sta. Venera Lightnings at the Luxol Stadium in one of the six matches from the BOV Third Division in programme on Sunday.
Santa Lucia, on the other hand, registered a fourth consecutive win, beeating Dingli Swallows 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to goals by Sebastian Perdomo and Jean Claude Annati. A win which puts them just one point behind leaders Kalkara.
Xghajra Tornados defeated Mdina Knights 2-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Daniel Cremona put Mdina ahead on the 2nd minute but Simone Crisafulli equalised two minutes in the second half and Glenn Saliba notched the winner on the 75th.
Luqa St. Andrew’s registered a fine 5-1 win over Msida St. Joseph at the Sirens Stadium.
Marsaskala claimed their first three points as they defeated Mtarfa 2-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Alexander Akl put Mtarfa ahead on the 36th minute but Jurgen Cachia equalised on the 72nd and three minutes later, Nestor Luis Silva Canas notched the winner.
A goal on the 65th minute by Andrew Xuereb gave Ta’ Xbiex a narrow win over Kirkop United at the Charles Abela Stadium.
Kalkara lead the way with 24 points, followed by Santa Lucia on 23, Luqa 20, Xghajra and Sta. Venera 18, Kirkop 16, Mdina 15, Msida 14, Dingli 11, Zurrieq 10, Ta’ Xbiex 9, Mtarfa 6 and Marsaskala 3.
