Eddie Wileman notched a late hat-trick as Sta. Venera Lightnings beat Ta’ Xbiex 4-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium in one of four BOV Third Division matches in programme on Sunday.
William Camilleri put the Lightnings ahead four minutes in the second half and Matthew Fenech equalised on the hour. However a hat-trick by Eddie Wileman between the 82nd and 87th handed Sta. Venera the three points.
In another match at the Charles Abela Stadium, Mdina Knights defeated Xghajra Tornados 3-0 thanks to goals by Samuel Bartolo on the 15th, Chris Farrugia on the 79th and Andrea Spiteri on the 88th.
A penalty by Bjorn Chetcuti on the 10th minute and another on the 85th by Michael Theuma handed Kirkop United a 2-0 in over Dingli Swallows at the Sirens Stadium.
In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Msida St. Joseph defeated Mtarfa 2-1. Rafael de Fex Mariaga put Msida ahead on the 7th minute and although Paul Azzopardi equalised on the 65th, Jonathan Francica notched the winner three minutes from time.
Sta. Venera, Mellieha and Msida lead the way with maximum points from two matches, followed by Kirkop and Zurrieq on 4, Mdina and Mtarfa 3, Ghaxaq and Xghajra 1, Ta’ Xbiex, Dingli and Marsaskala 0.
