Santa Lucia moved on top the BOV Second Division table as they registered a fine 3-1 win over Swieqi United at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.
Sebastian Perdomo Esquivel put Santa Lucia ahead on the 41st minute but three minutes later, Nicholas Schembri equalised. Paolo Dandolo restored the lead for Santa Lucia on the 71st and five minutes later, Perdomo added another to seal the issue.
Meanwhile the other match at the Sirens Stadium between Siggiewi and St. George’s was abandoned after a St. George’s player assaulted referee Shaun Calleja on the 35th minute. The score was 1-1.
A goal by Timothy Thomas on the 37th minute gave Kalkara a narrow win over Marsaxlokk at the Luxol Stadium.
In another match at the Luxol Stadium, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s defeated Attard 4-3 at the Luxol Stadium in dramatic fashion. Lesley Cassar put the Saints ahead on the 24th minute and goals by Ronnie Celeste on the 32nd and Dider Sohna six minutes later gave them a comfortable lead. Joseph Cutajar pulled one back on the 50th and Firas Aboulezz reduced the gap even further on the 76th with Jurgen Gauci equalising two minutes later. However five minutes from time, Ronnie Celeste handed Birzebbuga the three points.
Santa Lucia lead the way with 9 points, followed by Fgura and Birzebbuga on 8, Swieqi and Kalkara 7, Siggiewi 5, Mgarr 4, St. George’s and Luqa 3, Gudja, Marsaxlokk and Gharghur 2 and Attard 1.
