Amadou Samb hits three in comfortable win for leaders Gzira

Following a draw with Floriana in their last outing, leaders Gzira United returned to winning ways as they registered a fine 4-0 win over rivals Hamrun Spartans at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday to regain sole leadership in the BOV Premier League.

For the Spartans, who had former Italy defender Cristian Zaccardo making his debut, this was the third defeat in seven matches, leaving them on the 10-point mark in a mid-table position.

Amadou Samb managed to break the deadlock on the 65th minute, hitting home from close range off an Andrew Cohen freekick.

Five minutes later, Amadou Samb converted a penalty to double the score.

On the 78th minute, the Senegalese striker converted another penalty to make it 3-0. This was Samb’s eleventh goal this season.

However it was not over yet as three minutes in added time, Emmanuel Ndubuisi Okoye headed the ball home past Sultana for the Maroons’ fourth goal.
